Apple today announced that its store at Roosevelt Field in Garden City, New York will be reopening "soon," following extensive renovations.

The store has been closed since November, with Apple operating out of a temporary location on the west side of the shopping mall until the renovations are completed. Apple has yet to share an exact date for the grand re-opening.

Roosevelt Field is the largest mall on Long Island. Apple first opened its store there in 2002, months after the original iPod launched. When the store reopens, it will feature a modern design with more wood, as Apple has moved away from stainless steel walls. Many of its newer stores also offer an Apple Pickup station for online orders.

Elsewhere in the U.S., Apple is working on a few other store projects. Apple The Galleria in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Apple Baybrook, outside of Houston, Texas, remain under renovation, and we are still waiting on a grand opening date for the all-new Apple Downtown Detroit store that the company teased back in February.

I remember working at this store when they renovated in 2002. My first day on the job was Black Friday. Even after that initial renovation, it didn’t feel large enough to handle the foot traffic. The Manhasset location is quite nice.

Visited this store many times.

My wish would be an external entrance so I don't have to weave through the main mall before getting to the Apple store.

I have no idea whether they kept the same space, which wouldn't allow that, or not.

That store tends to be a nightmare for space. Hopefully they got a better space.

Compare that to the Apple Walt Whitman store further East. It's a bit smaller but half as crowded most of the time.

It's been years since I lived there but I think I had a path memorized for parking by Nordstrom, walking through and getting to the Apple Store ASAP.

So many happy times picking up devices at the store, it was a smaller space but they handled the big ones well. The iPhone 5 line moved right along.

My most fun memory was when the first iPad Pro dropped, I stayed up late to order it and to my surprise it was available there for pick up later that day, I could barely sleep!

I haven't been since I picked up my AWU in early 2023 but I think you're right and the Nordstrom entrance is the fastest/closest.

In my typical fashion, I got turned around at least once trying to get to it or back to the parking lot. 😂

Back in 2008/09 I worked a job that was about 20 minutes away and I would go to the food court a few times a week for lunch. You'd think I would have a better sense of direction in the place. 🥲

This is my Apple Store. Interested to see what it looks like now. I hadn’t even realized they actually closed for renovation - it was reported on MacRumors that they closed for remodeling, but last time I went they were still there as if nothing ever happened.

This! I'm in this mall all too often with my kids and it is just too crowded, and now overrun by everyone bringing their dogs.. I would love a direct entrance to the store, much like Dicks, or the larger anchor department stores.

Good to know about this and waiting to see photos from the renovated store. Meanwhile I am waiting for more stores to open up in my region.

Are you guys talking about the old location on the second floor by Macys and the parking garage? That was a small space but the store has not been there in forever. They moved to a much larger space downstairs that was double the size a while ago. Now they are renovating again and their temp store is on the other side of the mall where the old Disney store used to be.

They've been located on the ground floor since before the iPhone 4 was released

Not that long before… I remember the store was still in the old location during the iPhone 3G days (that’s where I ended up getting my iPhone 3G)
