Love my Mini 7.

I know it won’t win the spec-sheet battle, but it’s honestly one of my absolute favourite Apple products, and I use it far more than I did the 11” Pro. This is particularly true if you’re talking about using it as an actual tablet rather than a laptop.

And FWIW, I also have a iPhone 14 Pro Max. After dinner, I tend to put away my phone and use my Mini.

It’s an excellent form factor and a very cool device between a bigger iPad and iPhone. But FWIW, anything with a less than 90Hz display is an instant rejection from my end. Simply not worth the experience when everything else I use from Apple now has ProMotion.

Most of these devices are overpowered for most tasks for most users (even my 2018 iPad Pro 11 has stood the test of time). The ProMotion instantly makes the “basic” use of these iPads (navigation and scrolling) very premium and polished. And the lack of it instantly mars the experience before I even launch an app!

I was really hoping that Mini 7 would add their ProMotion display. Even for a $100, it is a solid no from my end.

I am holding out for a ProMotion small tablet from Apple!

I’d prefer ProMotion as well, but you ARE aware that your display often runs at 60Hz (or slower) when doing those things, right? You shouldn’t see much difference for most things unless you’re looking for it.

I can tell if I’m looking for it, but Reddit reads the same (unless I try to read scrolling text), videos play the same, etc. I don’t game on iPad, so perhaps there’s a difference there.

Again, I’d rather have ProMotion than not have it, but mostly for the (significant) battery life gains. Visually, I don’t notice the difference on iPad. I feel it’s more noticeable on iPhones though.

with iphones reaching mini tv sizes, is there a reason for a mini ipad?
if its for reading, just get a kindle for like $130

Macrumors can we stop with the “it’s now at its lowest point ever” scam? It’s this price literally every month. Just stop! The world is in fire and we still have to read BS like this? Phrase it differently. There is enough BS in the US right now to deal with even more BS!

the title literally says "with return of all-time low prices"....title does not say "it's now at its lowest price ever"...lol

Same, I went from an 11 Pro to the Mini 7 and use it so much more. It’s so easy to just take anywhere.

Such a shame Apple don’t seem to take it seriously but at least it’ll support ios26!

the best ipad due to form factor alone. gaming, browsing, messaging. fits in a small bag/fanny pack. wish apple stopped trying to shove the giant ones down our throats when perfection is right here.

Yes. I’m aware. Do this - use a iPhone 12 Pro Max and a iPhone 15 Pro Max side by side for basic navigation and scrolling. Start with the 15 Pro Max. You’ll not stand the 12 Pro Max!

So yes while the refresh rate is variable, not having ProMotion (now that I am used to it) basically makes the device feel a lot less premium than it actually is. Power isn’t even the issue. It’s just the refresh rate. Pretty much every other aspect of these screens is so good. PPI, color gamut, brightness, contrast ratio, etc.

There’s a reason Apple is moving all its phones to ProMotion come Fall 2025!
