Apple Releases Second iOS 18.6 Public Beta

Apple today seeded the second betas of upcoming iOS 18.6 and iPadOS 18.6 updates to public beta testers, with the betas coming just a day after Apple provided the betas to developers. Apple has also released a second beta of macOS Sequoia 15.6.

Testers who have signed up for beta updates through Apple's beta site can download iOS 18.6 and iPadOS 18.6 from the Settings app on a compatible device by going to General > Software Update.

No notable features have been found in the developer betas so far, but the iOS 18.6 update will bring additional changes to the App Store in the European Union. Aside from that, the updates likely focus on smaller changes and bug fixes. No new features were found in macOS Sequoia 15.6 either.

Apple is also beta testing iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe. While betas are limited to developers right now, a public beta will be coming soon.

Serious answer: Because some of us aren’t ready to dive into iOS 26 when it’s only in second beta. And some of us have had annoying issues with 18.5 that 18.6 seems to fix.

I think enough people just leave themselves opted-in to make it worthwhile. Any telemetry that Apple can get before unleashing it as final will be valuable feedback.

I usually do the last public beta of a new OS version and then switch to general release unless there's something new like Apple Intelligence or the like.

Serious answer: Because some of us aren’t ready to dive into iOS 26 when it’s only in second beta. And some of us have had annoying issues with 18.5 that 18.6 seems to fix.

I’m interested! Does 18.6 solve many of the issues we were experiencing? That would be worth updating all my devices at once!

Tim Apple would be amazed by the way I use Siri to set timers for stuff in the oven, the washer & dryer, and turn on do not disturb when I'm ready to go to sleep. I even sometimes ask Siri to......tell me the weather & forecast! 😮
