Apple Umeda in Osaka, Japan and the relocated Apple Touchwood Centre near Birmingham, England will each hold grand openings this Saturday, July 26.

Apple Umeda

Apple Umeda has an Apple Pickup station for in-store pickup of online orders, plus a Genius Bar with varied table and seat heights for improved accessibility.

Umeda is a busy mixed-use district of Osaka, with two major train stations, shops, restaurants, and more. Apple's store is in the Grand Front shopping mall.

Apple shared more details about the Umeda store in a press release this week.

The new Apple Touchwood Centre is located directly across the hall from the original store in Touchwood Solihull, a shopping mall near Birmingham. Apple took over a unit previously occupied by Topshop, next to clothing retailer Superdry.

Finally, Apple has announced that it will be opening an all-new Uniwalk Qianhai store in Shenzhen, China on Saturday, August 16.

Thanks, Aaron Perris and Dongjun (Apollo) Zhao!

Wow I did not know Solihull Touchwood was getting a new store! But it is greatly needed. The current store is SO SMALL! I’m gonna have to have a drive over tomorrow to check out the new store!

This new Apple Pickup station (that is starting to be included in many new Apple Stores) is definitely a much needed improvement and has really streamlined the pick up process - which more users than ever before, are now taking advantage of

It works great for people who live in apartment buildings or condos and don’t have the ability to have expensive items delivered securely (without needing to be present to sign for it, etc)

Apple was one of the first companies to implement this feature back in 2011:

And it has since taken off amongst pretty much all retailers - even Amazon now has thousands of self service lockers located throughout the US (in pharmacies and retail stores in many towns)

It is so much better now that there is a dedicated place where people will know exactly where to go (near the store’s entrance) so that they can get in and get out in a matter of minutes - instead of having to find the right person and then wait for them to bring the item out from the back of the store

This will definitely reduce store overcrowding - especially during the peak holidays, new product launches & weekends, improving the Apple Store experience for everyone🍎👌😎
