Now through September 30, get 5% Daily Cash when you use the Apple Card via Apple Pay for purchases across the Uber and Uber Eats apps and websites.

5% Daily Cash is limited to $500 in combined Uber and Uber Eats purchases, meaning that the maximum cash back that you can receive from this offer is $25.

Ordinarily, the Apple Card offers 3% Daily Cash for Uber and Uber Eats purchases.

In addition, Apple Card users can continue to receive a six-month free trial of Uber One, by signing up with this link using the Apple Card via Apple Pay. Uber One provides savings and other benefits for both Uber rides and Uber Eats deliveries.

Apple's credit card is available in the U.S. only.

Good deal👍
You can also reload your Uber Cash balance (for any amount) i.e. $200 and still get the 5%

I usually like to do it this way - by reloading a specific amount (versus having individual cc charges for each order) because a single $200 reload transaction makes it much easier for me to keep track of my total Uber spending on budgeting software like Quicken or Mint

Plus it reduces the $0.30 individual cc transaction fees that Uber incurs (from multiple swipe fees to a single fee)
If everyone did this, Uber’s operational costs (and customer’s prices) would ultimately be lower

I’d rather buy two $50 Uber gift cards for $79.99 from Costco.
Definitely
I didn’t know that deal was going on rn but has been live since August 19th:

Oftentimes Costco has that same deal (at $74.99) they did on both May 2nd & June 3rd this year:

It's not only undiscoverable, it just makes Apple Card feel like a coupon card.

Exactly. If there's anything this year has taught me, it's that what users really want is more unsolicited notifications from the Wallet app.

I used to use Uber Eats at least once a week. Their prices have gone up quite a bit and they rarely offer any decent promotions anymore though, so now it just isn't worth it. I guess this is the trend though in 2025.

Really, that's good to know. I tried to get a gift certificate once (I'm not sure if it was Uber or some other platform) and they told me I couldn't, that it was not valid for gift cards. But if your method works, that's much better then.

Do you have a "Uber Eats" account in Quicken to track the individual purchases? Or just the lump sum?

I only use Uber Eats because my AMEX Gold card has a monthly credit. I plan to cancel that card at annual renewal because I'm tired of the coupon book feel from that card.

I love my Apple Card, but I wonder what the intentions are behind these promotions.

Are they designed to get people to spend more than they would normally?
Are they designed to lure new customers?
Are they designed to make the Apple Card seem dynamic or exciting?

I really do wonder because these promotions do none of those things for me.

and it better STAY in the US 💋 let's keep it an american exclusive.

Who cares? It's not like it's some high-end exclusive credit card.

Apple Card is fairly low-end, as far as rewards go, and pretty much anyone with a bank account can get approved. You don't even need good credit.

Apple promoting a multi-national corpo that's famous for exploiting their workers.

Not a good look - but Apple being in the money-lending business is not a good look in itself anyway, so I doubt Tim Cook cares - anything is justified if it raises service revenue.

Well, if you get the 20-25% off gift cards at Costco, ordering from UE is actually quite a bit cheaper than directly from the vendor.

Why are people so horny about that BNPL stuff? If you can't afford it, just don't buy. Nobody tells you to buy a 10$ Taco with 10 installments a 1$.

Yeah, like the 1.8% interchange fees (effectively merchant fees on each transaction) that the card issuers charge in the US to fund all these card-associated perks, compared to the 0.3% fees people are paying in Europe.

The backlash was swift across social media, with many pointing out that Apple's own App Store guidelines prohibit push notifications for promotional purposes unless users explicitly opt in. The irony wasn't lost on critics that Apple appeared to violate its own rules while promoting its F1 movie through partner Fandango
Apple could & should solve this issue by creating a new toggle (within the Wallet settings) to allow for users to disable ANY and all future push notifications (like the F1 ad⬆️) or bonus rate Apple Cash promotions - like this 5% Uber one

I agree with you, every time I go into the 🍎Card to see my transactions (or pay the cc bill) I see similar ads (that you’re referring to) bonus Apple Cash rates above the standard 2% rate (most that I’m not interested in)

I myself don’t particularly mind them because it’s not enough of a nuisance for me to warrant disabling (if given the option to do so in a future iOS) and I often take advantage of some of these bonus rate promos anyway

BUT a lot of people signed up for this card back in 2019 SPECIFICALLY for privacy reasons (AND simplicity) because this card was supposed to be DIFFERENT than typical credit cards (that many find annoying) and often come across as overbearing, intrusive, etc

These unsolicited ads were never part of what many people had initially signed up for AND if we as consumers can’t even hold Apple to THEIR own privacy standards (because they essentially violate the very terms that they themselves created) then that obviously doesn’t bode well for ANY company doing the same for that matter, either

Not that this particular occurrence is a big deal or anything, but rather that it speaks of larger societal issues whereby companies continuously push the lines of what they can get away with, down a slippery slope, by using classic bait-and-switch (as well as other anti-consumer tactics) while being unable to be, in any way shape or form, held accountable. Until there is ANY type or form of accountability, this will just continue to occur and probably get progressively worse

Ultimately it’s accountability that serves as a check on ANYTHING and prevents consumers (or anybody) from being taken advantage of and it’s well documented that accountability continues to go by the wayside throughout all aspects of society these days

Apple CAN easily solve this - just have a setting (within the Wallet app) to DISABLE all future ads (or promotions) many of us don’t want (or have the time) for unnecessary distractions in our busy lives (via these unwanted push notifications)

It would be even better if Apple listed ALL of their promotional partners like Uber, Fandango, Exxon, Nike etc. (within Wallet’s settings) thereby allowing users to UNCHECK any (or all) companies for whom they have NO intention of receiving promotional solicitations from while still being able to get the news (or information) needed for promotions of companies that they actually ARE interested in receiving

Empowering the customer with CHOICE is (and always will be) the way to go for ANY company to go - Android has done it this way from the start

Apple, initially (under Steve Jobs) resisted THAT approach because at the time (maybe 15 years ago) it made sense for Apple to simplify things and decide most UI choices (on the typical customer’s behalf) to enable an easy to use and understand OS but we are LONG past those days

Most people have been using phones for well over a decade and are MORE than familiar with customizing their phones (to their liking) and damn we’ll want to!
