I would like to know how well CoolBook works for You who use it.
I'm using it and I'm very happy with it. My MacBook is running much cooler with less fanspeed.
I would also like to hear if anyone else get speed increases in Xbench by using it.
The improvements I've seen are seen in the graphics benchmarks.

My settings are 0.9875V @ 1.83GHz. I can go lower but I want to have some margins.
So how is it working for you?
Is it working on the new MBP C2D?
What are your settings?
I hear the CPUs in the MBPs are better for undervolting, is this true?
Post your results!

while i know nothing about this
it does look like u can download it to test it for free
just to try it

Do you have to lock into a specific frequency with this program?

I'm itching to try this but want to read a few more 3rd party reviews first.

To put it softly use this software at your own risk!

It wasn't a good experience for me. It would make my MacBook Pro crawl to a halt, activate my fans at full power just to boot into Mac OS X.

It would get a lot more attention if it was free.

The free version only includes a monitoring feature, you cannot actually change the core voltage unless you pay. It would be nice if he just locked out the higher frequencies or lower voltages unless you pay.

Can you use this program to change the voltages for all 4-6 clock speeds your laptop can run at, or do you have to choose one clock speed and one voltage and stick with it, therefore eliminating the default clock rate throttling that comes with the computer?

Looks interesting and $10 isn't bad, but I don't want to be locked in at 2.0@1.xV when I could have the same power savings with 1.0-2.0@default voltages

I would be highly dubious of this software...

1.) Some people have had severe slowdown issues, and removing coolbook has fixed this issue each time.:(

2.) MacKarl is quite clearly the developer of this app.:( Do a search for his posts. 90% of his posts recommend coolbook, and contain a link to it. His account here was made at the same time coolbook came out.

The fact that he has spammed his app in this forum in so many places, and yet never come out and actually said he is the Dev/working for/acting on behalf of the developer is quit underhand and sneaky, and just trying to get as many people to pay for his app as he can.

3.) It appears this guy also goes by the name CoolCore on Arstechnica, until he got found out and made an account "mungas" this time admitting to being the Dev.... both made on the same day though. Also see "KingCore" on Macnn, and I'm sure other forums too. Go to thos sites and find his posts for proof.

you're like the MacRumors Sherlock Holmes ! :)

My take:

If used responsibly, and after reading the god damn manual, this app is is very worth its money. However, it is pointed out by the author (and others) that if your macbook got a chip that needs higher voltages to run (the electronics experts said that during production chips are ensured to be o.k. within a certain range of voltages, but for ex. not all can run at 0.9000 V all the time. So if that applies to your chip obviously it won't do you as much good. Also I have read some post that suggest people have used it to fix their processor speed to 1.6 or 1.8 Ghz or similar, which the author warns against in the manual. So obviously if people do stuff with it it was not meant to do, they put their computers at risk. But if used responsibly it won't damage anything.
