I want to hook up a second monitor to my emac 700, but I'm not sure which companies make quality and which ones make crap. I'd like to have a 17", but a 19" would be cool too.

Can anyone recommend, from first-hand experience, a good <$250 CRT in the 17" range?

Also, do the Hz matter? Just for info, I like to run 1280 x 960, 72 Hz, Millions. But I do have a bit of the famed "eMac screen flicker."

Thanks for responding.:)

i have a dell m991 19 inch CRT (the 992 replaced it)
it's just around 250 it's quite a good monitor for the money

the samsung syncmaster monitors are very nice CRTs and are very well priced.

You'll probably be running the CRT at 1280x1024. That is a standard resolution. Your eMac's 1280x960 is not a resolution that will be displayed well on an external display. Your eMac will be able to handle 1280x1024 just fine, assuming you've applied the spanning hack. So, you should be looking for a CRT that does at least 1280x1024, at around 75 Hz. Anything less than 75 Hz, and you're going to get eyestrain and headaches.
