i went to my College's orientation today.
and to my surprise when i entered the lab where my class will be held all the g4 500's that occupied the room (about 25) had disappeared along with there 17" apple CRT's

when asked what happened to all the computers the program co-ordinator said they are awaiting shipment of new G5's! i was very very pleased!. also with new LCD's (prob 17")

then they said they are expecting 250 g5's to replace most older Apple hardware in that building.

im going to Sheridan College in Oakville Ontario canada Starting Sep 2nd.

hopefully they G5's dont take too long to show up!.
otherwise my new media class will be stuck doing paper/lectures for the first few weeks.!

Lucky you.

My elementary, H.S. and college prefers Windows. Nearly every educational facility I visit uses them over Macs.

250 is a damn lot! :D

the building that my source is in is called the Sheridan Center for Animation and Emerging Technologies

its mainly post graduate programs.. 3d Animation, Graphics, and other high end computer programs

its almost a complete mac building.. but there are some PCs and SGI's in several Class rooms

here is a link to campus if anyone is interested

the school is hightly renouned for its 3d Aniamtion and Classical animation programs with many graduated ending up at ILM and Disney. and they seem to have a special connection with Apple aswell. they typically upgrade software or hardware once a year..
they have been holding off on the hardware until the G5's showed up!

went to orientation at my school today (a formal orientation)

unfortunately no g5's yet.. actually they said that the tech support guys have been fondeling one g5 for a few days .. to test it before the 300 g5's show up.. (300 now not 250)

they said that Sheridan College is Apples #1 edu client in canada and that they are given first crack at the systems.. according to apple.

anyways.. cant wait till one shows up.!

no ive heard they are just 1.6 G5

my programs tuition is 6500 CDN.. but the comp animation classs is 13,500

but those are the high end.. most courses are between 2000-4000 a year..
