I will be purchasing the 13" rMBP. I currently have a 500GB HD and am using about 180GB. Should I go with the 256GB or 512GB on this one?

How long do you plan on using it?

Is your current one retina? I am curious how much more space retina uses for some of its assets

Not sure yet. Maybe 3 years. I am upgrading from a mid-2010 15" MBP.

Is all of that 180GB absolutely necessary to have stored locally? Can you put some of it in the cloud, or remove clutter?

If no to any of that, then I'd definitely go with 512.

About 100GB of that is music, so no, it's not necessary. I was thinking of going with the 256GB and 16GB RAM or, I can do the 512GB and 8GB RAM. Not sure if I wanted to do the 512 and 16.
