Help! :(

Computer specs in sig.

Disk Utility will repair disk fine on my split partitioned external HD, but not my 80gb internal.

Repairing permissions works fine on both.

Here is what the dialog box spits out when trying to repair.

Checking HFS plus volume
Checking Extents overflow file
Checking Catalog file
Keys out of order

Rebuilding Catalog B-Tree
The volume Macintosh HD could not be repaired

Error: Underlying task failed on exit

Is this a corrupted OS problem? Failing disk hardware problem?
What should my next course of action be? System Profiler is identifying everything correctly, and the HD passed the S.M.A.R.T. test, if that is worth anything.

Thanks in advance for any and all help!

Are you running disk utility from the restore discs that came with your computer? You have to if you want to repair your boot drive.
