Hey all,

I have a new issue with my MBP. As of yesterday, the 12, of December, my MBP won't wake up from sleep properly. This is the first time it happened. I've never had any issue waking it up from sleep for the past 7 months.

So, the symptoms is as follow:

When the notebook goes to sleep (by either me closing the lid, or by putting it to sleep through the OS, or sleep after inactivity) I would have a hard time waking it up. Display won't turn on at all, even after mashing keys, pressing the power button. Oh and the light on the latch is off. The only way for me to get into OSX is by doing a hard-reset.

I've called Apple, and tried trouble shooting it. However, the problem remains.

we've tried resetting the PRAM, PMU, Repaired Disk, Repaired Disk Permission. even tried doing hardware test, and it seems to just pass the standard test just fine.

I turn to you, MacRumours, to help me solve this problem.

Try Repairing Disk Permissions from the Restore disks not within OS X. if that doesnt want. re-install the OS BUT select the 'upgrade' option not erase and install, this will re-install 10.4.8 without messing with your files and settings. This should help, if not, head to a genius bar.

Mine has actually started doing this more and more.

It's typically when its near no battery remaining. If you plug it in while it is sleeping, wait a few minutes, then open it and press spacebar, the power status light on the front turns off. You then have to press and hold power for 5-10 seconds before it will restart. I honestly don't know, though, that might be a normal thing.

have done all that, as I mentioned.

no go!

I've actually had to return a computer for this issue because no one knew how to repair it (it came back dead after being sent to AppleCare). I suggest returning your MBP pro for another one so you don't run into further problems later on.

I posted this on Apple's Discussion Group as well.. but I haven't received any answers either! :(

My MBP is in for the same isssue

Look at this from the apple support site.

My MBP had the same thing with no video at all. it would boot and if I pushed the caps lock Key it would light, same with Num Lock. Also I could hear the beeps from pushing volume keys. I had no video on the laptop or DVI port. They are replacing the Logic board.

Good Luck

wake sleep problems

I just had the same problem with my MacBook Pro and found that richard4339 had the right answer for me. make sure the light on the right front edge is out -- then hold the power on for ~5 sec.
