I dont have any scratches on my macbook... yet. then again i havnt had it very long so what should i do if/when i get scratches on the white surface of my macbook?? except from having a panic attack  :D

bare in mind i dont let anyone touch my macbook so i probably wont get scratches on it... im really paranoid about when it comes back from repair :( what should i do if theve scratched it in anyway? i dont trust them let alone my girlfriend with my macbook... its like my life.

Run some sandpaper over it and start worrying about more important things

If that won't work, you can take scratches out with AppleSauce polish. Worked wonders on my iPod before I sold it, took a while though.

Also check this out.

thanks :) i might invest  yeah theres more important things than scratches :p lol

i wouldnt be able to use sand paper on it :(

Yea, you've got to keep it in a fluffy bag or something. But I just LOVE that white glossy finish.

I had one come in with stickers all over it - you know, OSHA type stickers and warning labels. The glue they used on it was obscene, and it ruined the finish. Even goo-gone wouldn't take it off.

Sure enough, as I heard they had about 400 shipped by some fool in China that got slap happy with his stickers before they could send him home.

I had an applecare tech guy scratch my powerbook where the screw is....i complained and showed them and they sent it back and replaced the part.
It really pissed me off.....and it was just a minor scratch....barely even noticeable. I'm a little more restrained now and know a computer can't and shouldnt stay mint forever. But if they scratch it...they should fix it.

yeah i love the white finish to, just makes it look smart, but not too professional, i keep mine in a neoprene case atm, but they only took the macbook for repair, they wouldnt let me leave it in the case, if i see damage i will get the manager to replace it, i seem harsh, but this is my money ive spent but o well

yeah i agree that they should replace it if they do it, luckly mines being fixed in house so no transporting :) i will be able to talk with the guy who damages it, if it happens

Don't pay $55 for ShieldZone. Get the exact same product from BSE for half the price. I immediately applied the skin once I got my white Macbook because (yes, I admit) I am a bit obsessed at keeping my electronics in mint condition.

Wow someone shares the same problem as me :) i just dont leik scratching stuff :(

I was this way with my first two ipods, but i eventually lightened up a bit.

iPod now at most moves in an iSock and my MB in my mahattan portage bag :O

I am very paranoid too. When I first got it, it didnt move from my desk because I was afraid of scratching in my backpack taking it to class for the first couple weeks. Then I bought an Incase sleave and Im completely happy with it.

yeah i used to carry my ipod around in a iSock but now i use a metal case lined with neoprene that i won

i carry my macbook in a crumpler neaoprene case... but the paranoia is still there damn people at teh apple store insisted they only took the macbook and no case... damn people

I use a white macbook c2d, but I would have preferred black - but I didn't have the extra couple hundred dollars to drop on that. So that leaves me with the white macbook, and it's a pain because every little thing shows up on the surface. Every so often I take a paper towel sprayed lightly with 409 and rub over it to get the crap off.

I hope you don't break up with that girl... then again by the looks of things it seems very likely

What sort of girl will stay in a relationship where the guy doesn't even trust her with some consumer good that can easily be replaced with a mere $1000? It is not like a scratch costs a grand to fix anyway. That's putting things into perspective!

hmm yeah... she doesnt really mind about the macbook thing... we talked about it... she knows im obsessive with keeping stuff in decent condition and knows that its nothing personal :)

yeah i could just like replace the panel i guess :)

Now that she knows your weak spot, you better not piss her off

Lest you come home one day with your Macbook keyed, your toothbrush in your toilet bowl, and your iPhone in a million little pieces

  Mmm never thought of that... i would lock it up... but she would probably suspect something so yeah :( if she did that she could say goodbye to her drums... she cant move them :) and there screwed to the basement floor so she wouldnt be able to move them :) unless she got another guy to do it

I put that on my Treo. It worked pretty good, but started getting dirty along the edges, from when it was in my pocket. I decided to take it off. It was tough taking off, but didn't damage the finish. It does feel a bit weird now though, a little slippery. I don't know if it's from the shield or just being older.

Macvatar skin/cover to prevent scratches

I bought the Macvatar macbook skins (www.macvatar.com) and I am very happy with them. Cool design and great quality. I have 3 skins and swap them every now and then. It is a great way to avoid the scratches and personalise your macbook. Now I wish I could do something similar with the bottom of the macbook because mine got a bunch of scratches and putting a skin there seems like an extravagant thing to do.

I've been taking mine to and from class since this semester began. I pulled my MB out of my bag the other day and it may have just been the angle and the lighting, but I could see hundreds on very very light scratches on the top and bottom. I freaked out for a moment, but then realized it's just a computer and it will show wear over time. Either way, you can't really see it. I'm guessing my bag scrathed it or maybe it just came like that?
