Can someone share these setups next to each other? I really wanna see how huge is 1080p scaling against the 1440p on 5K screens and how does the text clarity gets affected, but couldn't find any images on the internet that shows it. Many comments out here tells you that 1080p scaling is huge but I wanna decide that for myself.

1080p personally for me is a 24“ screen. 1440p for 27”. Other people will tell you that they like the larger text that get at 1080p on 27.

4k @ 1080p vs 5k @ 1440p can be taken as 1080p on a 27 vs 1440p on a 27.

all that doing is using 4 pixels at 4K to represent 1 at 1080p and so to provide a sharper looking edge may only use 3 of the 4 pixels to try and create smoother looking less stepped diagnopls.

however 27 4K has larger pixels then 27 5k in same was as 27 1080p has larger pixels then 27 1440p

so I think the best you can do is look at a review of a 27” 1080p monitor and then look at a review of a 27” 1440p monitor and decide if the screen output you see the UI and text is too large on the 1080p. If it is the 5k 1440p is for you. If not then 4k 1080p will be ok for you as well.

I tried that as well but it was different since I couldn't test it with macOS. That's why I want an image. I saw several people here who ran both, one will hopefully share it.

Not the best photo of mine but hopefully this helps. Apple Studio Display at 2560x1440 is on the left and a 27" 4K at 1920x1080 is on the right. If you want to see any other applications side by side, let me know!

You are amazing thank you. Can you take a photo on the desktop and on an instance where half of the display is VS Code (or any text editor) while the other half is a generic web page? Both close-ups and normal would be nice, especially to see the text clarity.

Thank you so much. Is it weird that I like 27" 4K more? What are your thoughts. 5K seems too small? or is it just me. I like %150 scaling (Windows) on my 27" 1440p, if it does indicate anything :p

You're welcome! Personally, I prefer more working space and will run the 27" 4K at 2560x1440. Text is slightly less sharper compared to running it at 1920x1080 but it still looks good. If you prefer 150% scaling on Windows at 27", then the 27" 4K at 1920x1080 would be a solid choice for you and a significantly cheaper option compared to a 27" 5K.

Edit: I forgot to mention, before I had a 27" 4K monitor, I had a 27" 1080P monitor and the text/UI quality was absolutely atrocious on MacOS. If you do want to run 1920x1080 on a 27" monitor, 4K would be the way to go.

Just ordered a nice 27" 4K display with good color accuracy. Thank you for your help!

Honestly, 4K at 1440p is fine for most applications. I did go with the 5K Studio Display for luxury sake and best possibly quality text; but for less than 1/2 the price, 4K is probably sufficient for most people.

While 4K at 1080p gives the best macOS scaling quality, text and UI elements are definitely too big at 27".

It's less than 1/8 of it (catched a 1 day insane deal on Amazon) :D (for the same spec panel except being semi-matte) I am waiting for it to gwt shipped ao I can test it, but honestly I don't think I will mind the huge elements at all since as I said before I already use my 27" 1440p at 150 scaling at 1080p on 4K is around %175 on that monitor and it didn't bother me much. But yeah, we will see once the monitor comes and I can test it on macOS.
