109PPI, low(er) color output, and only 350-400 brightness. Both these displays suck immensely. I can't believe they call these "Pro" models. But if I had to choose between these two, I would definitely choose to pay $50 more for the 144hz refresh rate on the PA278CGV model.

Ugh my thought process has been get something cheaper initially that also will have correct scaling (109 PPI) and eventually save up for something nicer for a dual monitor setup....but perhaps it is a silly buy?

109ppi is pretty bad. I fear you would be highly disappointed in the "blurry" display of text and lower resolution images. They're not even 4k screens.

I understand your thought process, but I for one couldn't stand the thought of spending my hard-earned money on something that I KNOW I won't be happy with just as a hold-over until I can purchase what I really want.

To give you an idea of what you could get for roughly the same price, check out this article. None of them mentioned are "spectacular" displays, but all are better than the two you linked to.

I think you'll have to see for yourself in person to see if 109 PPI is good enough for you but for me personally, I'll take 4K scaled to 2560x1440 over 1440p "correct scaling" on pretty much any 27" monitor. What are you primarily looking to use your monitor for?

Good to know! I'll mostly be using it with Logic Pro X recording music... I might also decide to run dual monitors in future not sure...

Ah got it! If 109 PPI is good enough for you, then pretty much any 27" 60hz 1440p monitor that fits in your budget should work. You'll have to weigh in whether or not you want to pay extra for certain monitor benefits like higher refresh rate and more powerful USB-C power delivery which the PA278CGV offers. You would save $100 though if you bought two PA278CV instead of two PA278CGV since you might want to run dual monitors.

Thanks! I'm also considering buying a 5K LG 27" on ebay ha. I'm all over the place with this...

It won't be until Apple implements USB5/Thunderbolt 5 on their Macs (2024?/2025ish) that higher refresh rates at 5K+ can/will happen.

Less than 4K is not (theoretically) a problem.

Ok thanks! Do you think at that time you could connect a USB-C/Thunderbolt to USB5/Thunderbolt 5 connection to allow them with current Mac M2 Mac Studios or it doesn't work like that? This is all hypothetical I suppose :)

The computer would need the hardware to support more than 5/6K 60fps. So a future generation of computers and monitors are needed.
As you've posted in your other thread:
The M2 Mac Studio can do one HDMI monitor at 8K 60 or 4K 240 as well as the TB4 5/6K 60 monitors.
