27 cinema display + macbook

has anyone had any success with connecting the new MacBook with the 27 Cinema Display (not thunderbolt)?

I'm thinking of buying the Google usbc to DisplayPort cable and a DisplayPort to mdp converter. I would like an option where I can charge simultaneously. Is there a usbc splitter?

The hub + or Hydradock are nice options but I don't trust that they will come out soon.

You can also ask people with older iMacs to try it, they have target mode that supports display port. If i can get a cheap converter, I might give it a go.
