27" iMac and 27" Apple Cinema Display: No Match?!

No, I am not complaining about the height of the two monitors that don't match . That can be fixed with putting something beneath the stand.

I was so excited about receiving my Apple 27" display and using it as a second monitor to my 27" iMac.

Thing is, I had no idea that the brightness levels between the two would be so radically different.

The Apple Cinema display is definitely warmer than the iMac. Additionally, since I run my iMac very bright, there is a huge difference in brightness capability between the two. It's like going from a very light monitor (iMac) to a rather dim monitor (Apple display).

Anyone else disappointed in not being able to match the brightness level between the two?

Okay, I found the solution thanks to some extensive searching....

You need to momentarily plug the Apple Cinema display into the iMac using a USB connection.

At that point, via display preferences, you can access a brightness bar on the Apple Display.

You need to uncheck "automatically adjust brightness"

Now I can run my Apple Cinema Display as hot as my iMac. Huge difference!
