27" iMac display versus cinema display

Is there any difference any quality between the 27" iMac and a cinema display? I believe the new iMac pixels sit closer to the glass which is supposed to improve reflections. Not sure if that is true or if it makes a difference. Beyond that are there any other notable differences in quality?

I use a 27" 2012 and a Thunderbolt Display. The new iMac screen is nicer overall, with MUCH reduced glare , pretty impressed.
