well i have started a new thread about my noise when shutdown issue. mainly because i completely misdiagnosed the sound for a fan when it clearly does not sound like one. but i was able to capture the noise with the super sensitive microphone on my iPad. here is a clip. i took the computer to the genius bar but the guy couldn't hear it and then he took it to the back to a "quiet room" and still couldn't hear it. he then suggested that i try to record it so i did. oh and btw he saw i had a dead pixel and decided to change out my screen. yay! and i didn't even tell him anything about it. he was like "oh, and btw I'm going to change your screen because i see a dead pixel here". pretty good customer service if you ask me.:D

when you play the sound clip the first 20 seconds or so are to show the ambient room noise level, then after the 20 second mark i put the iPad to the vent in the back by the power supply and you can hear the static sound it makes with an intermittent "chirp" every 3 or 4 seconds.
