well i have started a new thread about my noise when shutdown issue. mainly because i completely misdiagnosed the sound for a fan when it clearly does not sound like one. but i was able to capture the noise with the super sensitive microphone on my iPad. here is a clip. i took the computer to the genius bar but the guy couldn't hear it and then he took it to the back to a "quiet room" and still couldn't hear it. he then suggested that i try to record it so i did. oh and btw he saw i had a dead pixel and decided to change out my screen. yay! and i didn't even tell him anything about it. he was like "oh, and btw I'm going to change your screen because i see a dead pixel here". pretty good customer service if you ask me.
when you play the sound clip the first 20 seconds or so are to show the ambient room noise level, then after the 20 second mark i put the iPad to the vent in the back by the power supply and you can hear the static sound it makes with an intermittent "chirp" every 3 or 4 seconds.
