Can the latest 27" non retina iMacs RAM be upgraded by the user?

Thought so, just wanted to confirm. The girl at the Apple store said it was all soldered on.

She said that about the 27" iMac and she's an employee at the Apple Store?

The Mid-2014 21.5" low end iMac is the only one currently sold that has soldered RAM (8GB of LPDDR3).

Even the other 21.5" iMacs have standard SO-DIMMs that can be removed. They're just not user-replaceable so you have to nearly completely disassemble the machine to access them.
