I am writing to let you know about my first experience dealing with Apple hardware support. I was the first one on here to receive and post pictures of a 27" iMac w/ i7 CPU and in the short period of time that I've had it, my HDD decided to go first.

It was shipped with a slightly noisy 1TB Seagate but it never really seemed to get louder before the failure. It also didn't make any clicking before death either which is interesting to me, since all HDDs that I've had in the past have made some kind of abnormal sound before death. I noticed my applications hanging randomly two days ago so I fired up Disk Utility yesterday and noticed that S.M.A.R.T was failing. The HDD literally died when I was on the phone with Apple yesterday. The computer froze and I rebooted it which was was the last I saw of that HDD. The computer wouldn't boot anymore.

Apple decided to send someone to my house today and they swapped out my HDD with a 1TB Western Digital. I am very pleased with the service that they provided. The technician stated that this was the first 27" model that they had worked on, which I found a bit interesting. I know it is not Apple's fault that the HDD died, but damn am I thankful for Time Machine!
