I have had this iMac since '11 and all of a sudden for no reason it shuts down. I have talked with Applecare to no avail. Anyone have any ideas how to stop this? Thanks

I have had this iMac since '11 and all of a sudden for no reason it shuts down. I have talked with Applecare to no avail. Anyone have any ideas how to stop this? Thanks
The one time this happened to me was when one of my DIMMs failed. But it could also be a fan that causes overheating. Have you installed Temperature Monitor to watch if the temp spikes just before shutdown? I think iStat Monitor will also report your gpu diode temp (or maybe it's atMonitor).
