I have a 27" TB Cinema Display connected to my 5k iMac that has started to lose its connection. The screen turns off, but the iMac still thinks it's connected. If I unplug the power cord from the monitor and plug it back in, the display turns on for awhile, but ultimately turns off again.

Is the monitor dying? Is this an issue with the iMac or display? The monitor is probably 7 years.

Possibly TB connection is fraying. consider plugging a new TB cable to computer to display. Otherwise, you could open TB display and replace hardwired connection...i've done this...no soldering, plug and play once you unscrew lcd.
