I can't disagree. Not saying that I won't buy one because I haven't seen one in the flesh... but I think at the moment the android tablets (and even new Ipad retina) offer much better value for money.

Im definitely getting one! Last iPad I had was the first gen, and this littler one will be perfect for what I need. In the car for the music and at work on breaks watching movies and tv shows.

The wifi only version does not have GPS if you did have plans to use it for navigation in the car as well as playing music.

£270 would be a great buy IF it had an A6 and Retina.

£200-220 would be better for this mini. If it was £200ish, I'd buy in a heartbeat.

Me too, £200 was wishfull, £239 my expectation and £249 my maximum - it's not about the extra £20 but the principle. I bet they had some arguments at the pricing meeting about 250 vs 270, sadly they went for the wrong choice.

I will get the iPad mini next year when they release it with retina - I brought the iPad 1 (and still have that as my only iPad), but to me the iPad 4 seems more of an upgrade.

I was in the exact same boat as you. I was *HOPING* £200 would be the price point, given that it has less hardware awesome than the Nexus 7 which is £169 iirc? I would have still bought at £229 which I figured was more likely and then at £250 at an absolute push.

There is no way I could ever justify £269 for that though. I would rather take that money and throw it in a fire.

I've got the iPad 2 and use it every day, love it. Tried the 3 but wasn't impressed so sent it back.

Looking for a smaller tablet so have checked out the KF HD and the Nexus 7. Both look very good for the price.

However, who cares, after today's announcement I'll go for the iPad mini. Class and quality!

It is substantially more expensive but it has beautiful Apple quality. I will happily pay more.

If you can afford it why get a plastic brick when you can have the best!

269 quid is $430 USD. That's 30% more than in the US/Canada.

You pay sales tax at point of sale as well though?

We will be getting one. I was secretly hoping for £200 price point, but £269 is perfectly affordable still. As much as a Nexus 7 would probably suit the needs of its use, all the Apps that can be shared between this and my iPad 3 will more than make up for it. The design is lovely, it will be a much better made product.

The wife will love the iPad mini for her needs and uses.

If I didn't have my 3rd gen I'd buy the 64GB + cellular for sure. Great size, specs and apps.

Can't wait till stores get them in and I can have a play haha.

I'm looking for a secondhand iPad 2 now - pointless buying a Mini at this crazy price just to be screwed 6 months later like the iPad 3 owners have.

Or will go for a Kindle Fire HD at just £159 from Amazon UK.

Apple really upset many of their loyal customers this time.

Maintaining the 329 price tag in Spain, but in Euros! That's 428$....

Might as well get a refurbished iPad 3 for 319€
