I take it you want us to post ours? Or is this just a warning that you will be displaying your dorm room to us? :p

I'm not at University until October, but when I'm there, and if this thread is still alive, I will post my dorm room.

Senior year is going to be so much better. We have a two-story townhouse.

Alright so here's mine. A little warning: my room is not normally this clean.

Here's an overview...

If you were wondering I had a roommate, but he eventually moved out. So I've got the whole room to myself now.

EDIT: Sorry for the crappy quality, I only have my phone to take pictures.

JHacker - do you go to Maryland? B/c the desk and room layout look really similar to South Campus Common suites.

The poster says "Code Fast. \ Build faster." I love it. My room is normally cleaner, but I haven't been living in it this semester. It's my place to leave crap.

Post Your College Dorm Room

Hey Guys,

So, I'm a Berkeley student this year and I;m trying to figure out what to do with my dorm room, so I figured I would see what other people had done with theirs. Plus I always have wanted to create a "post your" thread. This is mine undecorated before move in

Ahhh...the good 'ole days. I don't have any pictures but my dorm rooms were mostly decorated with beer cans.:D

Good luck with the college career. :)

I don't have any pictures of my dorm but when I was in college I subscribed to Nat Geo and ripped out pages and wallpapered my room with them. It looked pretty awesome once I had gotten about 5-6 issues in and could cover my whole side of the room.

Wow, ive never seen a college/university dorm where you have to share a room with somebody else

Im at university myself, and so are a large amount of friends, and have always assumed you get a room to yourself.
Is this some kind of American thing or have i just been living with my head in the sand?

Yes, it's quite common for university students to share a room with someone, particularly during their first and second years. Usually single rooms are available in a more limited number and higher cost per semester.

My roommate and I have a bunch of X10 modules scattered throughout our room that can be controlled via remote, computer, or voice. My Blue Snowball microphone is constantly on listening for "Computer" and then a command such as "Turn off desk lamp" or "Movie mode".

It's a pretty neat feature to have - plus, coupled with IKEA dioders and Airtunes, people always get a kick out of our room.

The modules are cheap too - check out Ebay and Craigslist. Be sure to get the newer models that support dimming though. "Computer...Romantic Mode"

I would highly suggest using lamps as your primary light source; overhead fluorescent bulbs look terrible and really make it feel like a dorm. Warm, 60W bulbs will make it feel more homey. If I can find some, I'll post pictures of my room last year.

I don't have any actual photos of it, but this is fairly similar:

Wow, that looks a lot like my freshman dorm room! No, really. It had cinder block walls, bare tile floors, two "closets" (with no doors on them), a dual desk, and a sink. My mom compared it to a prison cell. They have since built a few new dorms that look more like apartments. Those things are crazy.

My room last year, prior to my roommate lowering his bed, moving his desk and drawers around, us getting a couch, and a bigger TV. This was also prior to my roommate hating me!

Living in an apartment this coming year.

Drab painted cinder blocks - in fact I think we called the paint color "asylum white". Basically just short of the prison block picture above. Bare minimum furnishing as in bed, desk, and chair. That was it.

Wow, you guys have large rooms. I don't have any pictures of my room without people in them, but here's thew picture from the website. Somehow they have managed to make it look larger than it is IRL.
