My 2g got bricked this morning after the update. Stupid phone showed no activation and would not sync or activate with Itunes regardless of how many times it was reset.
Solution:
1. Power down the phone by holding power and home and sliding the red slider to shut it down
2. open Itunes on computer
3. Hold down the home key as you connect the USB keep the home key held down until Itunes gives you an option for a forced restore
4. Select the option to continue on your computer and you should download the newer software which will restore you fully from scratch and SHOULD fix the issue.
