2G Service? Old iPhone acting weird? Still waiting for your 5 to arrive?

I have the iPhone 4 and my 5 is arriving on 10/10 according to the UPS site. So today I noticed my phone kept using Edge. My text messages were taking forever to go through and Yahoo IM was acting funny, but that app sucks to begin with so I wasn't too worried about it. I first thought it was the area I was in. The service where I work is spotty at best when you're near or in the building.

So then I am driving home and I am on my cell talking to my Mom. She was meeting me at my place and incase she arrived before me, I decided to turn on my lights through my home security app. I go to login and I am told something like I couldn't use data while I was on a call or something like that. I was like HUH??

I am on AT&T, but for a minute there I saw the nightmare verizon customer's must experience :roll eyes:

Anyway, I call AT&T and the rep, who was very helpful, told me they had a placeholder on my account for the arrival of the 5 which caused the service to go to 2G which won't allow calling and data at the same time. I don't remember the exact reason I was switched to this, but it had something to do with them preparing my new phone. I had to go on an appointment and couldn't wait for her to give me details. She just fixed both my 4 and my Moms 3GS back to 3G service.

So if you are awaiting the arrival of your 5 and you are experiencing strange issues like what I did, it may have something to do with your new iPhone 5 that hasn't even arrived yet
