iPod 2G shuffle doesn't play lossless!

I just found this out when copying some lossless-encoded songs to my shuffle... it doesn't support lossless! I can understand why, with that tiny battery in there.

That is strange, but suppose the capacity of the device means you could only store about 25 songs on there. Plus you wouldn't be able to hear the difference coming out of a shuffle*. I don't even copy lossless to my iPod Nano, i down convert using a doug applescript for itunes.

Just use the "Convert higher bitrate songs to 128 kbps AAC for this iPod" option in the iPod preferences.
