First, yes I did a search…..

I am going to be updating my 2G (original) to a 4 and I’m not sure what to do.

Should I backup/sync my 2G THEN update iTunes to the OS4 (latest version) and activate the 4?

Or

Should I update to the latest iTunes, then backup/sync the 2G, then activate the 4?

I only have a handful of picture and contacts I’ve added since my last 2G backup.

Thanks in advance for your help

Do the latter: update iTunes, back up your current iPhone and then activate your new one.

Congrats to you. I went from the 2G to the 3GS (skipping the 3G), and the performance bump was extraordinary. Going from 2 to 4 will be insanely good!

Thanks Ray…… I am looking forward to the jump.
