I just upgraded my ram from 2gb ddr3 to 8 gb ddr3 and my gaming graphics rating went from 4.9 to 5.5. Did anyone else have the same experience? My macbook pro is running a 9400m with 64 bit windows 7.

your vram amount probably went up. I know when I went from 4gb to 8gb my machine with a 320m went from saying 384mb to 512mb

I wonder if the same trick will save my Mac Mini from its abysmal gaming performance. It's a late 2009 with a 9400M. If I try to play L4D2 on the Windows side, the computer crashes. If I play it on the Mac side, I turn the fan up all the way using SMC Fan Control and the game still plays. However, the knowledge that Mac graphics drivers are crappy compared to what I could be using on the Windows 7 side kind of irks me. Oh well...this is a non-issue. What am I doing trying to play a game on the 2009 Mac Mini anyway!?

That's so weird, as all those cards don't use shared memory like the integrated HD Graphics do... ...Never happened to me XD

Upping the RAM doesn't really provide real-world increases in performance when playing games. Just throwing that out there.

And yes, I'm referring to integrated graphics cards like the HD3000.

Uh, the 9400m and 320m are both integrated cards that use shared memory JUST LIKE the intel graphics do.

Yep. For some reason, something happened and a lot of people think they aren't.... I have no idea why though; to be honest I thought the same thing at one point.

I think people just say it is because of the great performance it gave with the MBA... and in tern that led people to assume it was discrete. I guess.
