I'm purchasing a MBP after MWSF and I'm trying to figure out how much RAM to get. It comes w/ 1GB or I can upgrade to 2x1GB or 3GB (1x1GB + 1x2GB). I've been looking around (Crucial and RamSeeker) at prices for 2GB single sticks, not kits and they're either really expensive, $850 or impossible to find for a MBP. Apple sells the upgrade for $500. Does anyone know why this is? And will prices go down soon for a single stick that big?

Also, what would happen if I tried to put 2x2GB sticks in my MBP? Is it overkill?

Thanks.

Any guesses on how long it will take before prices go down considerably (under $400) for a 2GB stick of RAM?

Thanks for all the info.
