I have an Insignia TV that I occasionally use as a 2nd monitor. I'm using a Thunderbolt adapter to HDMI to connect the iMac to the TV. Most of the time the TV isn't on but it's connected. Occasionally, the iMac thinks the TV is on and I can't find the applications I invoke or my mouse pointer on my iMac screen. To resolve, I turn on the TV and usually find the application on the TV.
To add further insult to injury, occasionally Amazon Video and other streaming apps complain about HDCP compliant devices (the TV) causing me to either reload Safari or if it happens too much, unplug the Thunderbolt adapter from the iMac.
I'm sure this is a software issue. I looked through Insignia's website to see if they posted a firmware update, to find nothing of the sort. What can be done in Catalina to improve the detection capability?
