I bought an iPhone 3G on the release day and I am very happy with it especially upon 2.1 update. However, my brother has recently bought a new iPod touch with 2.1 firmware built in, and I was very surprised to see how snappy it is. Page scrolling on the Home screen is definitely smoother and more responsive as if it accommodates better CPU or has the dedicated graphics chip built it. iTunes and AppStore browsing is also very smooth in contrary to my iPhone 3G where frame drop is quite notable. I am just curious to know if the new iPod Touch accommodates different CPU from the iPhone 3G or even has 3D capability built in?

Thanks in advance.

Probably because the touch doesn't have the background apps of the phone and SMS running. Freeing up a decent amount of memory for the device to play with.

^ Exactly, the touch doesnt have sms, phone, a camera, and data constantly running to and from it (except when on wifi on the touch) among other things
