My friend has a 16gb 2nd Generation iPod Touch thats still on OS 2.1. She wants me to jailbreak it for her so I'm wondering if its still possible to upgrade it to 3.1.2 instead of 3.1.3? I've read that Apple isn't signing for the 3.1.2 firmware anymore and they only let you upgrade to 3.1.3.

Is there any way to get it to 3.1.2 instead? I've got the iPod2,1_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw file if it helps.

Thanks!

if you have the .ipsw file and the jailbreak for that one then yes..
when you hit the restor or upgrade button in itunes hold the option (or maybe the command) key as you click upgrade or restore.. then find the .ipsw file to upgrade to.. wait for the update to finish then jailbreak...

its been awhile since i did this to my touch but im pretty sure this is how you update to 3.1.2

Whats the whole thing about Apple not signing for 3.1.2 then? That way would still work, signing or no signing?
