which one has better sound quality? I just got a new ipod nano but I don't know whether to open it or sell it. I already have a 2nd G 6GB mini that I use with shure e4cs. If there is no change in sound quality...then I think I'd keep the mini and sell the nano..

i don't know about sound quality, but i'd keep the mini just because it is built like a brick and the nano is well.... not really is it? my mini's guts are almost spilling out (hte top white bit is very very loose) but still works a charm and chipped etc... can the naon take the stress...

i am currently using a 5g normal the sound quality is better (assuing that is a general imporvement) but i also have to put it in a thick plastic coat+ invisible shield... the scratches etc its just not as robust as the mini!

(sorry that doesnt' answer your question. i just like the mini more)

The nano is flash-based though, so it'll withstand jolts, jerks and the general portable MP3 player lifestyle more robustly. I think the nano will last longer. :)

I sure like the mini. I have one that has been running a sound system that's been running almost continuously for the past 8 months. I've burned up two amplifiers but the mini just keeps running. I tempted to buy a refurbished mini as a backup while they're still available. They are pretty cheap now.

I have had both and i think the sound quality of the nano is better than the mini, but not by a huge amount. Although I was only using the standard iPod earphones, so they should both sound much better with Shure E4Cs.

What I would do is sell the nano now, and buy a new one when when they (hopefully) increase the capacities, to around 8-12GB later this year, if Macrumors is correct - (https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/211934/)

I can't tell any difference in sound quality but the Mini is built like a tank. It's been everywhere with me and doesn't look a day old. Not a single scratch anywhere, screen is immaculate no dents, no discolouration. absolutely perfect.
cannot say the same for the Nanos I've seen... though I doubt anyone else makes a cotton shrine for their iPods.
