2nd hand iphone wont sync with itunes music

I just got an unlocked 2g and have it running on tmobile.

I cant drag music into my iphone in itunes..
I don't get a + sign when dragging.
What do I need to do here? I chose the sync option, when it said it was sync'ed with another itunes library, and let it choose mine as the new library. still no luck.

Do you have the "manually manage music" feature turned on?

The manually manage music option lets you drag and drop. If you have that turned off, then you need to use the music tab to select what gets synced.

Thanks. I panicked when it wanted to "clear" the iphone and sync.
I did lose 2 apps that came on it, but they were freebies..
