2nd Hard drive slow to access

I just got a refurb 2010 Mac Pro 5,1 with 2.8 Quad running ML. I have a 240GB OWC SSD in bay 1 as my boot/app drive and I moved the original 1TB WD Black to Bay 2 to use for storage. When ever I access something on the WD drive it takes at least 5 seconds to load. No matter what file it is. For example, if I open iPhoto I have to wait 5 seconds for the hard drive to spin up and my pictures to appear. The same with iTunes and listening to music. It's just annoying. Sometimes it takes longer than 5 seconds. Should it be taking that long? Are you guys experiencing this too?

Have you UN-checked System Preferences > Energy Saver > Put the disk(s) to sleep when possible?
