2nd SSD in a late 2011 MacBook Pro 17 for raid 0

Swapping out the ROM drive for a 2nd SSD in a late 2011 MacBook Pro 17, I read somewhere that the 2nd drive works but very slowly, is this true?

I was looking to do raid 0 with 2x SSD's, if at all possible.

Takes a bit of work, but very simple if you have some experience.Best is to just buy aluminum or copper tape to get it done nice and easy.
Even works with the cheapest optibay caddy!
