Hi there,

I've got an Mbpro with parallels 3, and xp home installed.

The XP now won't boot up, it hangs partway through the boot process.

I've tried to repair the installation but now it won't accept the password.

So it looks as if I'll have to reinstall XP but I don't want to lose all the data.
I can still see the files with Parallels explorer, and I have copied some of them across to the mac home folder.

My question is this - do I have to copy everything across, or can I create a fresh xp installation and simply drag and drop the files over to it from the old.

As long as you make a NEW virtual machine I'm pretty sure you should be OK.

Otherwise, if you do another XP install onto the same virtual drive, be sure not to format it or erase it. The boot manager will present you with two installs, one will be the old, the other the new.
