I bought a Airport Extreme (5th Gen) about a week ago and have a 2TB hard drive connected to it formated as HFS+.

My MacBook Pro has no problem at all connecting to it and even accessing files from the hard drive however, I do have a problem when I haven't accessed the drive in some time and try to copy files over to it. I receive an error "Sorry, the operation could not be completed because an unexpected error occurred (Error code -50).".

Rebooting the MacBook Pro doesn't have any affect. The only thing I found to work is disconnecting all usres in the AirPort Utility then physically unplugging the USB drive from the AEBS and plugging it back in. This seems to fix the problem right away.

Any suggestions what I can do to avoid having to disconnect/reconnect the drive everytime I want to copy files to the drive? I have about 400gb of data on the drive right now.

Thanks in advance. My other option is calling Apple Care (which would be free) but figured I would ask here first. I'm new to Apple products and love them so far and fell so foolish calling tech support since I work in IT (PC only).

This is the hard drive I have:

This is the enclosure that I have the hard drive in:

Over all I am very happy with it. The transfer speeds over WiFi are very acceptible. I can transfer 27gb of data in about 27 minutes.

Thanks again!
