O defiantly Western Digital hard drives are usually very quiet. Besides your probably going to have it in a computer case so you wont notice anyways!

It's in an external case. The Caviar Black is very noticeable seeking, for example.

I've 3 of them, and though I can hear it on occasion, it doesn't bother me. They're internal though, so that makes a difference vs. external enclosures.

For me, I notice fan noise, but it's not intermittant, and the system is close to me.

Ooh me too. I'm going to get a Caviar Green 2TB and throw it in a time capsule and further enable my pack-rat tendencies. I'm glad to hear that it's quiet, I'm not big on speed for the purpose I'm going for and power use is a plus too.
