I haven't been able to install the new 3.0 operating system because I can't get past the backup step. I've heard of long backups, but I left the phone plugged into the computer overnight, and 7 hours later the progress bar was at about two thirds. During this process itunes puts up a message telling me that it's backing up my iphone. This error message screen has no x in the upper right hand corner with which to kill the backup. In fact, input into itunes is totally disabled during this time. Only by unplugging the phone can I get access back into itunes. I have also noticed that CPU utilization maxes out during the "backup" period. Anybody out there know the fix for this?
