How long do you guys think that the iPod Touches will have 3.0 when you buy new, or do you think wwe'll have to make the $10 purchase?

iPod touch 3.0 on Touch?

3rd gen touch when the iPods are refreshed at their annual September event. IIRC 2.0+ wasnt preinstalled until the 2nd gen touch.
You will have to purchase it but generally Apple drop the price by the same amount.
That's what happened with the 1G and the January Software Update as well as 2.0
Apple dropped the price of the 8GB and 16GB 1G touches by A$25 when the JSU came out, the 32GB that arrived later had it on already. Then a fair while after they changed the prices of the 8GB and 16GB back up, changed the model numbers from /A to /B and they came pre-installed.
Prices dropped again by A$13 when 2.0 came out followed by the 2G touch which had 2.0 pre-installed (2.1.1 actually).
