I have recently purchased a iPod touch 2nd Gen 8GB [Pre Jailbroken] [MB]

I was wondering is there anyway I can back up my 3.1.2 in case I manage to lock up my ipod
one way or another. I have looked around but I cannot seem to find anything about creating a
backup. I am asking this because apparently now if you try to back up via Itunes it will back up to 3.1.3.

I'm an ipod:apple: newbie so any help would be appreciated.

Only a problem if you need to restore your device. Doing a backup will not update the OS, it just backs up all your device settings, contacts, calendar, app data like game saves etc over to iTunes. You can do this by selecting your device, right click and select backup.

Also if your 8GB 2G touch is an MB model that has previously been jailbroken then you can jailbreak 3.1.3 using redsn0w 0.9.4.
