Hello,

I've been all over the internet searching for a way to resolve my predicament - hopefully someone here will have the solution! :)

I'll try to keep it short...

I have an iPhone 3GS which has been having sim card issues - every now again it decided it did not detect a sim card, or required unlocking of the sim card all the time.

Trying to find a solution I came across a website that recommended making sure I ran the latest OS. (seems to be 4.2.1) So off I went to my Imac G5 that runs tiger - which apparently cannot support the version of iTunes required to install the latest OS for the iPhone. Nevertheless I manage to create a backup on the G5 for good measure.

Next I go to my work pc, which is running Windows 7 and iTunes 10.x. This is where a whole world of problems arose.. Whilst trying to upgrade, it asked me to back-up, which I said yes to, and whilst it is trying to sort itself out the phone seems to 'crash' by putting itself on 'emergency call' only mode. (This may be related to the initial problem of the sim card recognition.. don't know). Anyway, tried a few restores, turning on and off of phone, and now I am getting error 0xE8000065, which says for some reason it cannot connect to itunes.

I go back to the Mac to see if that can talk some sense into the phone, but that now tells me I need to connect to a later version of itunes - it no longer recognises the phone!

Going back to the pc, I restart the pc, then reconnect the phone, and somehow the phone and the pc reconnect, everything makes sense. Except.. I lost all contacts and data.

So my question is this:
How do I get the backup of the 3.1.2 on the mac over to the pc running itunes 10 and into the phone now running os 4.2.1???

Bearing in mind I have ZERO knowledge about hacking, jailbreaking, SHSH and what not, other than what I've managed to pick up over the last few hours trawling the internet..

Any help greatly appreciated!! :)
