Hi all, about a month or two ago, I jailbroke/unlocked my iphone3gs at 3.1.3 and firmware 05.12.01 and wow it was a headache waiting for a program to jailbreak 3.1.3. Yes I stupidly made the mistake of upgrading from 3.1.2 to 3.1.3.

So before I go through the headache again, I just wanted to make sure...I was wondering if it's possible to upgrade through itunes to the latest software version, i think 4.0.2, and jailbreak/unlock it at the current moment.

On cydia on the top it says the device has SHSHs on file

Thanks :)

No. Do not update to 4.0.2. There is no jailbreak for 4.0.2.

If you have SHSHs on file for 4.0 or 4.0.1, update to 4.0 or 4.0.1 and jailbreak using jailbreakme.com. If you don't know how to update using SHSHs, google it (sorry I can't explain it to you, but I've never had to do it).
