I currently have a 3g Ipod touch jailbroken on 3.1.3 by Spirit. Am I better of staying at 3.1.3, or moving to 4.1 and using greenpoison. any notable advantages/disadvantages? Yes, I do have my shsh from 4.1.

A more important question is, do you have SHSH for 3.1.3, so you can downgrade if you need to?
I would say the main advantages of 4.1 are:
A lot of apps now don't run on 3.1.3;
There are folders and wallpaper, and, a sort of half-baked multitasking that is occasionally useful.

I would just stick with your 3.1.3, that's what I still use on my 3GS. From all that I've heard, 4.0/4.1/4.2 just adds slowness, and various annoyances to any of the 2nd or 3rd gen iOS devices. I guess I'd rather keep it simple how it worked when it came out of the box than upgrade and find something that'll piss me off.
