3.1 Betas on unlocked iPhone 2G?

Hi, I am a registered developer and would like to test some of my apps using 3.1 Beta 3 on my iPhone 2G. The only problem is my phone is unlocked and I am in Canada. I tried updating to Beta 2 from an unlocked 3.0 firmware but it deactivated the phone. Any way around this?
