I'm having a little trouble with my 3,1, the IOFan wants to run at 2500 RPM, and the system will wake from sleep at random times.

I think I have the fan issue sorted down to a bad ambient temp. sensor in the optical bay. It seems to be reporting 129C.

The random wake issue goes away if I uncheck the wake for network access in the energy saver panel.

Is one of my other Macs sending a magic packet to my 3,1, maybe to keep file sharing going?

I'm not connected via file sharing, but it is on, so maybe one of my other Macs is just refreshing the list of servers, and that send the magic packet to the 3,1 Wifi?

Anyone else with one or both these issue before care to chime in.

To check for network access just disable wifi either by pulling the card or by the network control panel

also you can search for the string "wake reason" in your system logs
