Hey I want to buy a ModMic which is basically a microphone which can clip onto a normal set of headphones and turn it into a headset.
Having a quick look on their FAQs they state that Mac users need to buy a power adaptor which plugs into a USB port which then powers up the microphone as their In/out/ ports are not powered?
This would be quite problematic with me as with the MBPR I only have 2 USB ports which I will be using at times and I'm not really keen on using a USB hub. Of course I don't even have a microphone port anyway (which I can't believe Apple omitted).
However, after a quick google I found a post/blog stating that the green port for sound is actually powered. Therefore could I not just use a standard cheap 3.5mm splitter and plug the modmic into that which would then be powered using the headphone port?
