I dropped my camera onto the keyboard. The screen went blank, and 3 siren like beeps kept on repeating every few seconds. I turned the machine off and on a few times but the problem persists. Any ideas?? Ta

* 1 beep = no RAM installed
* 2 beeps = incompatible RAM types
* 3 beeps = no good banks
* 4 beeps = no good boot images in the boot ROM (and/or bad sys config block)
* 5 beeps = processor is not usable

I suggest you check if your ram is properly seated. It might have moved since you dropped something on the MBP.

3 beeps and a blank screen

Thank you.

Any idea how you do the RAM check?

Ta

You have to open the laptop, remove the ram sticks and put them back. You can also just push gently on them. The goal is to verify that the pins are touching the contacts correctly.

You should also use the hardware test once it is done. Insert the install DVD and boot while pressing D.

Thank you very much... will try it tonight!
